23.3.1979 Anhörung des United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation zum Vorschlag von Brockman „Brock“ Adams (Verkehrsminister, engl. Secretary of Transportation) zur „Neuerfindung des Automobils“ (Bericht in New Scientist, 29.3.1979: S. 1011–1012)
Senator Howard
Cannon,Nevada (zeigt Renderings des Amectran Exar-1; 0:47 Min.):
“In many instances the most striking
technological breakthroughs are made by
small entrepreneurs who leapfrog
conventional technology it's come to my
attention here that a one of these types
of companies has developed an electric car. […] They say it's a pretty darn
good looking automobile the way it's
designed here. […] Have
you personally heard of this effort or
has your department evaluated its
design and does it plan to provide any
support to help investigate this effort?”
Brockman Adams: “Yes Sir, we're
here with that we have recommended that
it be pursued. I would certainly
support that a number of these be bought
and be tested and try, and yes I think
that is a good vehicle we should pursue
it.”

„1980 BMW : Exar-1“ bei eBay Motors zum Höchstgebot von 300 $ (10
Gebote); Beschreibung des Verkäufers:
“Here is a one of a kind Prototype BMW coupe based Frua bodied electric car. (Frua, famous Italian coachbuilder). It is one of one, and is documented on Frua's website, I am adding a link to the site below. It needs a little tender loving care, OK, it's not exactly a cream puff. It has most of the electrical system in place, including a digital monitor. No batteries, or electric motor, but most of the rest of the drivetrain and brakes and steering are there. Many pieces of trim were refinished, and are included. Some original blue paint still visible. Never titled in this country, sold on a bill of sale only. Can be repowered back to BMW easily, or restore it.”

“Unfortunately, one of the previous owners started to modify it by adding some Porch parts to it. I think most of the original rear end is still underneath the modifications, but the nose was cut off just in front of the hood. There is also a lot of Bondo that has been added.”
